Soul Sugar drop debut album

I copped the single All I Know from Soul Sugar back in late 2015, it;'s a gorgeous lilting slice of reggae/downtempo. Their album is out now.

Led by Guillaume "Gee" Metenier, Soul Sugar throw in some tasty covers from Timmy Thomas (Why cant we live together) and Augustus Pablo (East of the River Nile) on this full length Chase The Light (Excursions in Soul, Reggae, Funk, and Dub). Check it.

From Fleamarket Funk: " From the get go, Gee Recordings has developed their own sound. Whether it’s funk, soul, roots, or dub, or a combination of all four, it’s distinctive and infectious. It has all the great records we have fallen in love with from Gee: “East of The River Nile”, their ode to Augustus Pablo, Leonardo Carmichael doing a bang up version of Timmy Thomas’s “Why Can’t We Live Together”, Courtney John featured on “Take A Chance” and “All I Know”, as well as bangers such as “Melllow Mood”, the Jackie Mittoo heaters “Get Up And Get It” and “Big Car”. Primarily this record is reggae through and through, however it’s got all of those excursions in each, Soul Sugar wears their influences well as it comes out in their music..."
